How many times while reading a gripping book, or while seeing an awesome movie, or while watching an interesting game have you been completed fascinated by the performance of the artists, singer, writer or player and wondered at what makes them so amazingly talented.
Blessed are the people who are born with unique talents and are more gifted than others. When talent is honed and nurtured with rigor and discipline, and presented with the right opportunities, it leads to extraordinary results.
Talent is the multiplier. The more energy and attention you invest in it, the greater the yield. The time you spend with your best is, quite simply, your most productive time. ― Marcus Buckingham
But talent alone can carry a person only so far, it needs to be accompanied with continuous hard work and great will power to shine through.
The artist is nothing without the gift, but the gift is nothing without work.― Emile Zola
Your talent determines what you can do. Your motivation determines how much you are willing to do. Your attitude determines how well you do it. ― Lou Holtz
Talent, like electricity, cannot be preserved and is wasted if not put to use.
The saddest thing in life is wasted talent. [Tweet this]
Talent is like electricity. We don’t understand electricity. We use it. ― Maya Angelou [Tweet this]
While a naturally talented person may have to work less hard work than the others, but even so, for the most talented people things do not happen without effort. A talented person, unless he works hard, may not necessarily have a sustained edge over those with relatively less talent but who have persistence and patience and a strong will power to succeed.
So, at such times when things do not pan out the way you wish them to, if you start doubting your own capabilities and say to yourself ‘I am no good, I am not talented, I am useless’, it may help to remember the following quotes:
With ordinary talent and extraordinary perseverance, all things are attainable. ― Thomas Foxwell Burton
Hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard. ―Tim Notke [Tweet this]
Sometimes in the most pressing situations, people develop talents that they otherwise would not have developed.
We are told that talent creates its own opportunities. But it sometimes seems that intense desire creates not only its own opportunities but its own talents. ―Eric Hoffer
At times opportunities may present themselves at the most inopportune moments in the most unexpected manner. Sometimes your critics can bring out the best in you. I love this quote by Tim Fargo.
Your friends will believe in your potential, your enemies will make you live up to it. ― Tim Fargo [Tweet this]
Lastly even a person as talented as Albert Einstein believed that he had no special talent, he was just passionately curious to find the answers to his queries.
Genius is 1% talent and 99% hard work. ―Albert Einstein
