Goddess and demon
Shaped in sand by the hands of man
Striking sculptures
inspire! Then those with the feet of
clay drag them in a murky mire!

Sudarsan Pattnaikan artist from Orrissa sculpted this huge sand sculpture of Goddess Durga and Demon Mahishasur at a beach near Bhubaneswar using sand and sea water. The impressive sculpture by the sand artist had attracted attention for the right reasons unlike the unnecessary debate over Goddess and Demon in the parliament and institutions when there are a plethora of other issues to deal with.


A Tanka is a Japanese poem consisting of 31 syllables in 5 lines, with 5 syllables in the first and third lines and 7 in the others.
