Spices have been the inspiration for trade, exploration, and war since times immemorial.

Spices brought people from Asia and Europe to India as early as 3000 B.C, which marked the beginning of Spice Trade.

The Portuguese came to India in search of spices, and they established their colony in Goa in 1510. They were followed by the Dutch, French, British and Danish, who subsequently set up their trade posts.

The Portuguese introduced chili to India.  The European traders further introduced cashew, kidney beans, and different varieties of chilies.
