7 Trendy Gift Easter and Decoration Ideas

Easter commemorates the Resurrection of Jesus Christ on the third day after his Crucifixion. Celebrated on a Sunday, this springtime holiday is all about hope, love, peace and joyful living!

The long Easter weekend starts with the Good Friday and ends with the Easter Monday. The Friday before Easter, known as Good Friday commemorates the Crucifixion of Jesus at Calvary just outside Jerusalem. Good Friday, also called Holy Friday or Easter Friday is an observance that involves fasting and praying including church services. Holy Saturday is the transition between Crucifixion and Resurrection. Easter and Christmas are the two greatest Christian Festivals that are celebrated all over India.

The word Easter appears to be derived from the German Eostre, the goddess of the dawn—a bringer of light, spring and fertility. The auspicious Easter day comes after the first full moon following the northern spring equinox in the Northern Hemisphere. It is recognized as the day when people’s faith reached its peak.

Easter signifies the ushering in of the spring on earth, renewed hope and the beauty of new life. Trees have new leaves and flowers. Birds build their nests anew and lay fresh eggs. Colourful butterflies come out of their cocoons. There are signs of new life in all its beauty, dignity and splendour spreading joy everywhere all around.

Sharing customs and traditions with Christmas, Easter comes to be associated with Easter Bunny and Easter Eggs. Easter bunny is a folkloric figure and symbol of Easter depicted as a rabbit bringing eggs for children. Easter egg is an artificial chocolate-egg or decorated egg, given on Easter to children. Eggs signify fertility and the beginning of new life, and hence are used as a symbol for the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
